Use the right tools to improve your life

There are many tools you can use when you want to improve your life. These tools run the gamut from books to formal classes, from blogs to personal coaches and more.

Each aspect you wish to improve, each discipline in which you want to participate requires its own set of tools. For example, learning to be a better cook may require cookbooks, pans, measuring apparatus, spoons, spatulas and more.

Becoming proficient at playing an instrument will require the use of the instrument as well as other items. You may need sheet music, a music stand, a pick, a strap, a reed, a carrying case or other items.

If you wish to lose weight you have many tools from which to choose. Your tools may consist of a scale, exercise equipment, a swimming pool, a track for walking, a book or diet plan to follow, a support group, or a coach.

The importance of your journal

Your journal provides a place to record all the important statistics, note your progress, observe areas which need work, heed your obstacles, register your insights, spot your weaknesses and record any new information you acquire.

?

Try this:

  1. Choose one area in either your personal or professional life which you would like to improve. (Look at the above list if you need some ideas.)
  2. Using your journal, outline a plan and set a goal.
  3. Determine to write in your journal at least one thing you did to move toward your personal or professional goal at least 4 times a week for the next 5 weeks.
  4. Write about the other important aspects of your personal or professional growth path.
